L’Shana Tova!  Happy New Year 🙂  I hope everyone has a happy, healthy and SWEET new year!

Speaking of sweet…my baby used to be sweet.  Then she got sick.  Now she’s a sourpuss.  all. the. time.  Her fever is gone (or was yesterday) and she has a rash covering her whole torso.  I thought this was roseola, but thanks to Grandma, now I don’t think that anymore!  She said the roseola rash is different…FABULOUS.  I love unidentified rashes on my baby that make her the exorcist…NOT.

Miss A got dressed for the holiday last night and we went over to Grandma’s house for Rosh Hashana dinner.  Special guests included Auntie E & Aunt D.  Before we left I tried to get some pretty pictures of my baby in her adorable outfit with a smile on her face.  FAIL.  Here’s how it went down…

Miss A hiding from the Momarazzi!

Oops! She caught you!

"Can I touch the light?????"

"PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASEEEEEEEE"

She put herself in a time-out!

Finally!!!! I got her!!!!

Happy ETC everyone!

We have had some visitors this week.  The kind of visitors that you wish lived here all the time!  Our friends the G Family are really the best.

We had a nice morning at the beach the other day when the weather cooperated and gave us some sunshine!

AG was able to get this photo of me and Miss A…she was eating goldfish…as usual!

Embrace the Camera people!

Embrace the Camera Thursday 9.1.11

Hi everyone!

We had a great opportunity while evacuated from Irene to capture something I don’t think we’ve ever been able to capture in A’s 16 months!  Our WHOLE family!

Mommy, Daddy, Baby A, T & M!

Thanks Auntie H for letting us crash at your house while you were in NJ!  We had an awesome time there & can’t wait until you guys are home for the fall!

Embrace the Camera Thursday 8.25.11 & 20 Minute Recipe Search!

Hi ETCers 🙂  Here’s our deal today!

See this family…

We need some help!

We are tired of ordering dinner in, but the mommy featured up there gets harassed by the baby up there, every time she tries to cook our family dinner.  This results in either ordering in something quick, or heating up some sort of frozen meal.  In my defense, our frozen options are of the healthier variety from organic markets & Trader Joes, but I’m bored with this stuff.

Here’s where all you other mommies come in!  I’m looking for recipes that take approximately 20 – 30 minutes prep to plate.  The hunt will benefit anyone looking for quick and easy recipes because I will put everything together into an organized post & re-post so everyone can have all the recipes!

Here’s my entry!  I hope everyone loves it as much as I do 🙂

Dijon Lemon Salmon: (serves 2)

  • 1lb wild salmon (or any salmon you like) – this also works with Arctic Char!
  • 1/2 cup dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp garlic (either minced or paste)
  • black pepper to taste

In a small bowl, mix the mustard, lemon juice, garlic & pepper together.  Cut the salmon into individual pieces.  Spray a broiler safe pan or cookie sheet with non-stick spray & place the salmon skin side down (or just flat if you prefer salmon steaks).  pour sauce over salmon, making sure to cover the whole surface.  Put it on pretty thick.  Broil approximately 10-15 minutes. The mustard will get brown & bubbly in spots.  That is ok – I usually just broil until it’s well done b/c that is how I like it!

(I never use measuring devices to make this – I eyeball it, & the consistency should be less thick than the mustard alone, but still thick enough to cover the salmon!)

I make this with some roasted broccoli & cauliflower & tadaaaa!

So delicious!

If you guys have any quick dishes you recommend, either kid friendly, or husband friendly, or both! Please email me @ LKSquaredblog@gmail.com or leave them in the comment section!

I hope everyone can participate!  I’m looking forward to some delicious, nutritious meals!

Good morning ETCers!  Today’s pic is a Daddy embrace!  A little sneak preview of our CT weekend trip that I’m going to post later on.

Ready to do laps!

How was that last weekend already?!?!  Time is flying!  This weekend we’re hoping to make it to the hamptons with our cousins.  Right now A still has her fever & we’re going to get her to the Dr. to make sure she’s gonna cool down soon!

Wishing everyone a fantastic Thursday!

My little girl loves SHOES!

I was trying on a pair of gold espadrilles that I bought a while ago and never wore, so that I could see how they would be to wear to a wedding last week…when like a stealthy jaguar, A attacked my feet!  She pulled and whined and then threw an on the floor tantrum until I took the shoes off.  She then promptly stepped her tiny chubby little feet into them and looked at me with such victory!

"Mommy! I think these shoes are perfect for the wedding!!"

I couldn’t help but try to snap a pic of the 2 of us, 2 shoe loving girls!  Sadly, A wasn’t in the mood for a picture, she wanted to test these shoes out and run and dance!  But I got a blurry shot that I love 🙂

We apologize to Daddy in advance for the shoe habit that Mommy will be enforcing 🙂

Happy ETC everyone!

I heard the greatest quote from someone ever yesterday.  It made me laugh for hours.  “You can’t pick your friends!”  Uhhhhh lady…..if you don’t pick your friends, who do you pick???

Your FAMILY!?!?!

Auntie E came to the beach with us the weekend before last and we had so much fun!

It is photos like this that keep me smiling on days like today when I’m just plain old in a bad mood!  Do you ever have days where you just don’t like anyone?!  Where you just want to go on a vacation from the people you know and love?  I try to stay positive all the time, but today I just can’t seem to do it.

This SAHM thing is really hard.  I used to work for my dad, and as I sit here & think about it, Miss A just might be more demanding and thankless than my dad was as a boss!  I miss adult conversations.  I miss conversations that weren’t interrupted by things needing to be done for a child!  Its been 15 months of baby centric life and there are days that I love every second, like the last 3 weeks….and then there are days like today when I want to throw my hands up, throw my head under my covers & stay in bed all day!

Instead of dwelling on my bad mood, I’m going to appreciate this ETC day & use it to remember that my life is awesome.  My little girl is amazing and spirited and as funny as they come.  I’m going to remember that there are people out there going through WAY worse than SAHM boredom.

Please, everyone who checks out this blog today, read Daniel Bobis’s story & help in any way you can.  Its this story lately that has me feeling guilty for this bad mood.  So I’m gonna snap out of it, and go play with my daughter & hope that her future brings as much light to the world as Daniel’s does.  He must have some very proud parents.

A turns 15 months today as we embrace the camera!

Mommy & A walking to dinner for Great Grandma’s Birthday!

It is completely mind blowing & crazy how much she has grown and changed since she turned 1.  She has really been making me laugh to the point of tears the past few weeks, which is a nice change from her making me just plain cry!  Mister LK and I were discussing what her list of words is, and it is astounding how many new words she has…some of which include:

  • Mommy
  • Daddy
  • T (the dog)
  • M (the cat)
  • kitty cat
  • Doggie
  • Woof Woof
  • Fish
  • Minnie
  • Mickey
  • Elmo
  • Pooh
  • Brobee
  • Baby
  • Ball
  • Bubble
  • Balloon
  • Bobo
  • Thank you
  • Please
  • Agua
  • Bano
  • Teeth
  • Tushie
  • Shoe
  • Beach
  • Down
  • Up
  • No
  • Yes
  • Tickle Tickle
  • Cookie

She also says her BFF’s name….PD….and it’s the cutest thing when they see each other now – they hug and kiss without us telling them to!  There are some more words that I’m sure I’m forgetting but also she will repeat EVERYTHING!  She may have said “Oh SH*T” on her own the other day – Uncle C & I heard it, but we didn’t laugh to encourage her…it was hard.   Those are mostly the ones she uses on her own pretty constantly.  Cookie is huge here.  Everything is a cookie.

She can point to her belly, belly button, nose, ears, eyes, mouth & toes.  She will clean up!  This part is great!  If I tell her to clean up, she’ll pick up her toys and put them in the toy bins!  If I give her a paper towel, she cleans the floor with it!  This all makes Mommy very very happy!

I’m loving the summer so far!  We have a very busy next few weeks ahead & I think A is going to love all the stuff we are going to do!  Especially the part where she goes to Gramma’s house next weekend!!!

This motherhood thing is crazy hard, crazy sweet, crazy chaos, but most of all crazy amazingly good!  I love you A.
