Lights up my day! if only she were smiling for me…nope…thats the Yo Gabba Gabba face. Whatever gets her to smile is ok by me!

8 Months already!
Now its almost 9, but we’re delayed these last few months, so here goes!
Check out those 2 teeth! For a baby with only 2 bottom teeth she sure knows how to chew! This month she’s figured out that she absolutely LOVES cheese. Cheddar is her favorite so far, but she’s also liked fresh mozzarella, babybel, and even swiss. She likes eggs, yogurt, blueberries, chicken soup with noodles, turkey, tofu in miso soup, ravioli, and she really hates avocado.
She now runs around things. She climbs stairs. She stands with no hands for maximum 10 “mississippi” seconds. She still loves You Gabba Gabba, and really loves the “clean” episode. She had her first words “Cap Cap” combined with the clapping hands!!! She signs “more” when we aren’t paying attention while feeding her &/or not feeding her fast enough! She played in the snow for the first time & loved it…until she face planted while trying to crawl in 8 inches of snow! She had her first New Years Eve party, and almost was up at midnight! She had her first New Years Day at Farkas’s, Aunt D babysat one night, and awesome K babysat another night & they both said she was a good girl!
We’re almost at month 9 now, and I can’t believe how big she’s getting. She’s growing up so fast. I know that is a good thing, but its also a little sad. I completely understand why my mom was always asking us to stay small. I am so proud of her and amazed at her growth and excitement at learning new things, but I miss her infant self with her sleepy little face and teeny tiny little tushy!
I love you my sweet girl, I can’t wait for everything that is coming up, but if you could just stay small…Mommy would really appreciate it!
Sink Drama
This house has brought us lots of drama…but the sink was something we didn’t expect to be so difficult!
First we went to Lowes….which is where A had all that fun in the photo. My mom and I went to get a sink and a faucet…b/c the countertop guy was waiting for the measurements so he could cut the top for the sink. So we found the only 35″ stainless steel single bowl sink they sell. It was “Elkay” which was recommended to us, and we brought that sucker home with a pretty Kohler faucet.
When we got into the house next, I found a “Stop Work Order” on the front door. The city (or us) were very lucky I happened to want to let T out the front door b/c if I hadn’t, I would NEVER have seen this. The front door is “just for looks” and pretty much never gets used.
Apparently, someone from the city came by and spied into our windows without telling anyone and saw that we removed the BROKEN SINK. How dare we!
So now we needed a licensed plumber to install this sink. What was that you say…..yup…$$$$$$$$$$.
He came…and opened the sink box that I was so proud of picking out all by myself for a STEAL of $199, and said…”uh Miss…this sink is missing all the brackets and I can’t do anything with it…sorry…replace it and call me to come back…” True Story.
DAMMIT. So I bundled A up and met Aunt D at Lowes to return the stupid sink and even better news…Guy at Lowes: ” Miss, this is a horrible sink, and every box we have has a damaged sink inside. I think you should let us order a better sink for you” There it is again…$$$$$$$$$. So I need a sink right?!?! I really wasn’t enjoying washing 4 bottles a day in the bathroom riddled with ants (for another post). I agree to order a better sink. They tell me it will arrive at your door in 2 days. FF to the next morning, JUST KIDDING MISS……Can get it to the store in 5 days, and its going to cost more b/c its a rush.
Cue emergency freak out panic attack phone call to hard working busy in meetings husband. He managed to find a sink online and ordered it from CA and had it at our door the following day by 12pm. Pretty damn lucky I am!
I happen to love this sink. I wasn’t sure I could love a sink this much, but I do. I knew I could love bathtubs, and countertops, and floors, and shower heads & knobs, but kitchen sinks? I sort of thought they were all the same….
Introducing…my pretty sink!
This was what we passed on…
Isn’t ours nicer?!
ok….soon there will be an update on our whole kitchen…
Saying goodbye to A’s first home…
A’s first home was in Brooklyn. She won’t remember anything about it, and at times, I would like to forget about it too, but really, aside from the drain fly infestation, loud downstairs tenant, breezy shower, tiny downstairs bathroom, dumb non-functioning garage, very difficult parking and stupid landlord, it was a good house.
It provided us with great memories of A’s first 7 months & I hope we never forget it. I loved the paint colors we chose…and I loved the open yet separate living room/dining room. I loved our big bedroom and A’s little nursery. I loved the location near Auntie E. I loved Food City our little grocery store, and that our walks in the morning took us to the water as we walked by mansions we could never afford but loved to look at. I loved being able to let T out in the yard. I loved that it was the LK’s first house and how all of our furniture and “stuff” from our tiny 1 br apt filled up the house. I even loved the packing tape that was stuck on the LR walls from the HAPPY BIRTHDAY banner for the surprise party I threw my husband 2 weeks after we moved in. I really loved the way our couch came in the house and out….through the window. I loved how close it was to Auntie H. Of course she never dropped S at our house when it was 15 minutes away…but we did see much more of her then!
A loved the house too.
Here’s some photos from our final day there. She never knew there was so much open space! (If only she knew at that time that space would be something she’d never want for again!)
Embrace the Camera Thursday 01.13.11
Here’s our first Embrace the Camera post of 2011! Hopefully we’ll have time to participate more now that the house is getting settled a bit & I have a computer that works!
This is from my dad’s Hannukah party. A had a very busy Hannukah this year & she got lots and lots of presents. Like every other baby, she loved all the wrapping paper and boxes. She did however get some toys that she is obsessed with. She is a very lucky little lady to get all new toys for our new house!
More Hannukah pictures coming later!
Phantom Baby….
This is our family’s phantom baby. Lots of freezing weather and a tendency to get sick cause this adorable munchkin to only see the light of day on rare occasion. I think her mom might even have the Dr. make house-calls to keep her inside 😉
She’s so tiny here, but now she’s huge. Bad Auntie LK needs more pictures of niece #2. Resolution for 2011…take more pictures of this beautiful girl.
Give a girl some rope…
And she’ll eat it!

This was moving day. That rope lowered our couch out the window to get it out of the house since the doorway was too small.
The funny part about this, is of course that we (responsible parents that we are) left the rope with our baby so we could take pictures, and of course the fact that we removed the legs to the couch and haven’t since been able to locate them! Not good…going to go call Crate and Barrel to get some replacement legs!
its 2011 already?!?!
This is how we’re all feeling lately! We owe you all a recap of life the last 2 months, and I just went through the photos on my camera to remind me of what happened, and its A LOT!
A’s 7th & 8th months included Thanksgiving at Gramma’s, living at Gramma’s for 2 weeks, Hannukah, Jewish Xmas, New Years, new windows, lots of ants, a tropical playroom, and a serious blizzard!
All photos are straight from the camera since I’m waiting the best Auntie’s dad to help me with my editing software!
We pretty much lived with Gramma for A’s 7th month. She had a blast! She tore up her house and made lots of messes. She tortured Tyler and Teddy. She stood up wherever she wanted, including the ottman *that is on wheels* which is why you see a gash on her lip b/c she fell on her face! She is much more stable now, but it sucked back then!
Then we moved in to the new house. She loves all the space to crawl around, even though I have to limit her space so much b/c nothing is baby proofed! She was strolling around in her walker until I realized that it was ruining my new floors….the walker has been banished to the storage room! Crawling will suffice!
8th month update later!
ITS HERE!!!
New computer has arrived! From China. I feel so excited!!!
Now I have to upload all the new pics to the new machine and get my posts started!
Of course during the move my good camera lens broke, so my photos of the last few weeks of Ava are limited b/c with my current lens I have to stand a good 100 yards away to get a shot that isn’t up her nose! Ahh the zoom….
You will see new posts soon!!!!!
Coming soon…
