Birthday Party In the Park…

Turning 2 is best celebrated with beautiful weather, gorgeous kids, lots of fun & obviously … cupcakes!  We were invited for a playdate in the park to celebrate one of our friend’s birthdays!  She’s an adorable little 2 year old with a brand new baby brother!  I decided that on such a great day I would do a little practice shoot & capture some memories for the little birthday girl & her friends!

Birthday girl & her friends!

Diva’s In the Park…

If you woke up today wondering “what would a diva do?” … 2 of my favorite girls are about to show you!

These girls never fail at making me smile…they are amazing little girls and they are growing up way too fast.

“Don’t Freak Out Mom”…

Dear A,

This weekend was the start of Passover 2012.  The highlight of this holiday so far is when you told me “Don’t freak out Mom” while I was about to freak out!  I’m not sure how you knew what “freak out” was…since I never ever ever freak out on you….HAHAHAHAHA….but it made me laugh so hard that I couldn’t help but wash my hands of the salmon, pick you up & kiss your freakin’ face!

You are almost 2.  That is insane.  I don’t think I’ll be able to handle your birthday.  You are such a big girl now & as much as 2 years old terrifies me, you seem a little bit happier these days!  Except for dance class.  You still cry every class.  I’m pretty certain you don’t like the structure and the teacher telling you what to do.  It might be torture, but you have friends there, and so do I, so I will keep taking you!  You’re also a really great dancer, and maybe if we can get you there and learning, you can show everyone how talented you are at it!  They already know how talented you are at the crying!

There are new little brothers in dance class now too!  That helps you pay attention to nothing dance related as you want to make sure no one else is crying and getting any extra attention!!!

You also told me that you want a brother…again making me laugh hysterically!

If you have snacks in class, you will sometimes behave…if you have snacks and a musical instrument…I can get some quiet for about 5 minutes.

There are lots of adorable little girls in your class, and we do have some fun each week!  You like when we can twirl together and you also still love the balance beam & hoola hoops.  I think we’re going to try gymnastics soon because you love to jump and flip and you are very coordinated.  Dance however, isn’t going away any time soon…how could it, look at this tushy in a tutu!!!!!!!

I love you Miss A.  Please stop getting so big!

And also – I will freak out if I want to.  But if you tell me not to again, I’ll give you a cookie!

Good Friends, Great Day…Hangin’ on the Hudson…

We spent the day in Westchester with our great friends the R family.  D & JR make some of the most beautiful children I’ve ever seen.  Magnificent & so good.  They are so sweet with A & she always has a great time hanging with the boys!  We hung out by the river, played at their house & did a little decorating of little Miss AR’s room which will be revealed as soon as it is done!

Thank you so much for a great day.  That baby is too too sweet, yummy, squeezable….I can’t wait to see you guys again soon!

Blondes DO Have Lots Of Fun!

The weather has been really amazing…and there has been no excuse not to get outside and to the park lately.  Going with friends is always better!  Our friend O came with us last week & we had a blast!  Check out this blonde, blue eyed lady!

I love this girl's brooding face!!!

A had a blast at the park with O…thanks for spending the day with us!

All ABOARD!

M showed us one of his favorite spots while we visited!  The ChooChoo!  It is a real old train that the kids can climb on and play!  He really loved it & A had a blast too!

This was just another little thing we did on our trip…lots more to come…and I’ll continue to thank the G’s for their hospitality, generosity & friendship.  We had so much fun!

Now that we’re back home, I hope that they get a full night sleep since A won’t be waking them up crying for fishies at 430am!  Back at home, she might wake up, but since she’s in her own room now, she can figure it out on her own!  Mommy & Daddy are SLEEPING!!!!

Party Puker…

Mr. M’s party was cancelled due to some unexpected vomit.  It was his own…and it was not fun for his Mommy and Daddy.  A hasn’t gotten hit yet with the bug, and I’m hoping she doesn’t, but I imagine that to be nearly impossible, since most of the time we’ve been here she’s spent trying to bite him!  biting = germs IN the mouth.

We are sad we won’t be having the scheduled Yo Gabba Gabba party as planned, but we are happy we were able to come and celebrate M on his 2nd birthday!  We’ve had a ton of fun together!  The weather has been simply amazing (except today’s rain which is working for us since we are stuck inside).  A hasn’t worn her coat the whole time we’ve been here…it has been glorious!

I wish we could live here a little.  I love my house and my town and my life back at home, but there’s almost nothing better than hanging out with a great friend and just spending time lounging, doing the day to day together.  My husband is great, but he’s no replacement for a girl friend!  AG, this vacation has gone too quickly, and I’ve had a perfect trip.  Thank you for being the best hostess & for reminding me what it feels like to have a friend just be “there”.  Thank you RG for taking all the crap I’ve dealt to you this week.  You know I love you!  Your son is an amazing boy and you should both be very proud of the great job you’ve done raising him till 2…let me know if it gets easier k?!

Birthday Wishes For Mister M…

Dear Mister M,

We are so crazy happy that we can be hanging out with you on your special day!  It is crazy that you are 2 years old already!  You are an amazing little monkey…so smart…so funny…so sweet.  We love you so much little boy!  Thanks for bouncing away your birthday with us…and thanks for not showing Miss A how to climb up the big slide…that would have given her Mommy a heart attack!

May your life be full of bouncing, smiling, laughing, fun and partying!  May you keep your Daddy on his toes & let your Mommy rest a little!  And also…may you marry  Miss A 😉  Although, as was pointed out to us today…she’ll have a lot of competition!

Happy Birthday Mister M.  Thank you again for being such a good boy & thank your Mommy and Daddy for being amazing friends.

All our love,

the LK’s, A, T & M

Every Mother Should Have Some Pink In Their World…

I’ve mentioned before that I come from a family of all girls.  I (so far) only have nieces.  And…well…there’s A.  When I was pregnant, I didn’t find out the sex until she was born.  I know a lot of people who hate that…but for me, I wanted that surprise.  I also didn’t want to shop since we’re superstitious and didn’t bring anything baby-related into the house until baby was home.

When Dr. W announced that A was a girl, I  nearly fainted.  Yes I did just have a C-section after almost 30 hours of labor and I was exhausted, but I was just so sure “she” was a “he” that I couldn’t catch my breath.

Obviously, all I hoped for was a healthy baby.  But deep down…I wanted a girl!  I’d be lying if I said otherwise.

Now…my beautiful friend DR just had her 3rd baby.  (WHOA).  And like the other 2, she didn’t find out the sex.  Her first 2 are really 2 of the most amazing, beautiful, smart, funny, sweet boys I’ve ever met.  But when I got the txt about #3, I can’t say I wasn’t just super super excited that ITS A GIRL!!!!!

Every mommy should have a little pink in their world…and I was completely floored and honored that DR asked me to put together something for their nursery!  Mood boards for nurseries are something that I love.  I wish I put together some more for my own use when A was cozy in my belly, but I was busy living a life of a childless person and didn’t have time for silly things like decor in my nursery.  Until she arrived and I smashed together some ideas and got her all set up!

So now, I just hope that more people I know get pregnant or decide to decorate their kids/baby’s room & let me get creative!

What makes it even better, is that DR loved it and I think it’s actually going to look a lot like this inspiration board!  For sweet AR. (another A baby….they have a special place in my heart!)

She's so pretty and delicate!

Perfection!

A little inspiration!

Asking for what you want, Getting what you deserve…

It has been hard to admit how overwhelmed I am with this mother to a toddler thing.  I was lucky never to have had the “baby blues” when A was born…so maybe that is part of why it is so surprising to me that I feel alone in this, because it is so rarely spoken about.  Post pardum depression or anxiety is something that is really getting much more awareness now.  I really believe that we will be hearing more and more about toddler mom depression soon!

I don’t know that I’m “depressed” but I’m definitely not myself!

Since I’ve been in this new place, figuring out what to do and how to do it, I’ve been hugely supported by some very important people in my life…and a little disappointed at times by a few.  I guess that’s always the way it goes though.  I’ll never forget that support and the people who were able to see me struggling and were there to step in to put a smile on my face.  People who were there to tell me to snap out of it and talk me down from my ledge.  Those friends and family who offered advice on how to cope and just let me vent my frustrations.  I am very very imperfect, but I always try my hardest to be there for the one’s I love.  I expect the same in return.  Hopefully…when I ask for what I want, I’ll get what I deserve…but if I don’t…then I’m thankful for what I have.

My family.  My friends.  My girl.

I love you A.  Even when I’m sad, mad, frustrated, overwhelmed, or just plain exhausted!  You are the best thing that has ever happened to me in my life.  You are my entire world.  I will do anything and everything for you.  Always.
