If you woke up today wondering “what would a diva do?” … 2 of my favorite girls are about to show you!
These girls never fail at making me smile…they are amazing little girls and they are growing up way too fast.
Dear A,
This weekend was the start of Passover 2012. The highlight of this holiday so far is when you told me “Don’t freak out Mom” while I was about to freak out! I’m not sure how you knew what “freak out” was…since I never ever ever freak out on you….HAHAHAHAHA….but it made me laugh so hard that I couldn’t help but wash my hands of the salmon, pick you up & kiss your freakin’ face!
You are almost 2. That is insane. I don’t think I’ll be able to handle your birthday. You are such a big girl now & as much as 2 years old terrifies me, you seem a little bit happier these days! Except for dance class. You still cry every class. I’m pretty certain you don’t like the structure and the teacher telling you what to do. It might be torture, but you have friends there, and so do I, so I will keep taking you! You’re also a really great dancer, and maybe if we can get you there and learning, you can show everyone how talented you are at it! They already know how talented you are at the crying!
There are new little brothers in dance class now too! That helps you pay attention to nothing dance related as you want to make sure no one else is crying and getting any extra attention!!!
You also told me that you want a brother…again making me laugh hysterically!
If you have snacks in class, you will sometimes behave…if you have snacks and a musical instrument…I can get some quiet for about 5 minutes.
There are lots of adorable little girls in your class, and we do have some fun each week! You like when we can twirl together and you also still love the balance beam & hoola hoops. I think we’re going to try gymnastics soon because you love to jump and flip and you are very coordinated. Dance however, isn’t going away any time soon…how could it, look at this tushy in a tutu!!!!!!!
I love you Miss A. Please stop getting so big!
And also – I will freak out if I want to. But if you tell me not to again, I’ll give you a cookie!
It’s not even that cold here, but compared to last week it is relatively frigid! Last week was H O T up here…we went to the park with Cousins S & A, and of course Auntie H & Gramma too. The girls had a blast as always, and shockingly, no one came home with a sunburn!
Apparently…these ballet flats are not meant for running around a park. She was missing 1 shoe the entire time. Pick your battles…
Oh the vomit wheel! Gramma’s favorite park ride!
These girls adore each other…
How sweet do they look?!?!
And as Mister LK knows…its not a trip to the park in the hot weather without a visit from the Mr. Softee Man!
Who needs a spoon?!?!
Yes…it is down to 50 degrees from 80…and it feels freezing…but we’ve been super lucky with the weather this winter & I’m hoping our summer is equally as mild. I’m not into sweating…
A has a really amazing imagination. She walks around all day singing and dancing to the music in her head. She’s constantly having conversations about something with her stuffed toys and she’s always laughing at something!
The other day we were enjoying the weather on our front lawn and she was playing catch with me…
She was so happy!
She was on the hunt…
She was a little nervous…
She found something!!!!
Everyone…meet A’s neighbor…her dinosaur!
She was completely convinced that this was a dinosaur. She kept saying “Mommy Mommy…look dinosaur!!!” It was so freakin’ adorable. She wouldn’t touch it until I did…and when she did she said “Nice dinosaur!” They are now friends 🙂
Around here? A is. Hands down, no questions asked, unequivocably, A is the master of our universe. At least that is what she believes with every ounce of her being! She is usually executing some type of command on me at home, or out, or anywhere she wants really, but she up’d her game recently when we visited Mister LK at his office. She took her bossiness to a whole new level!
What do you think a 22 month old prays for?
Maybe she’s praying for longer hair so she looks more like a girl!
I’m praying for patience! Apparently and NOT surprisingly, she was a real angel with Grandma and Auntie H this weekend. Playing nicely, being funny, letting them change her diaper without kicking them in the face…you know…all the behaviors she saves for everyone EXCEPT her Mommy.
She just thinks it is funny to torture me! It’s ok though…I love her anyway…and I hope she is praying for that long hair AND my sanity!
This saying is something that has stuck with me since I was an early teen…My mom’s friend Aunt L was telling this to my sister who was throwing a tantrum of her own. I know she meant it to be said to an early teen going through lots of crap and puberty at the same time…but I think it is an amazing lesson, and remind myself of it often.
We’ve lost touch with Aunt L, but I hope she knows how much these words have impacted my life. I have not always controlled my emotions…but at some point in the “loosing it” stage…I usually find myself repeating this in my head!
I wish this worked on my 22 month old! She’s having a hard time controlling her emotions…and by that I mean…well…she screams and throws herself on the floor kicking when she doesn’t get the M&M’s she wants in the middle of the pharmacy. Or screams like a banchee for 25 minutes on our ride to dance class all the while using her Little Mermaid wand to Macgyver the door handle open on the highway. Or kicking me in the face while screaming, crying & banging the mirror and wall as I hold her down all to do something like…change her diaper! All pretty good examples of what my days have been like the past 2 weeks. Torture. Sadly, me repeating my “controlling your emotions is a part of growing up” is not having any effect on her at all! Damn…
During the aforementioned car ride of hell, I decided that something has to be hurting my baby girl. I was taking her to the doctor. Stat. I took her yesterday, and much to my relief…she has a double ear infection! My daughter is not just a lunatic disaster who can’t control herself! She’s in pain! Medicine can HELP!
This is her first ear infection, and first time on antibiotics in her 22 month life…I think that is pretty damn good…
This is A last weekend, when it was just a cold…
This was A this week the day before the doctor…when I told her should couldn’t have cake for lunch…
Oh Amoxycillin, please help my little girl get back to smiling! Crossing our fingers this is short term!
I am the featured Mama on Mamadiaries.com today! I answered these questions a while ago, and I think it was a bad week since it definitely sounds like I want to kill A or myself, and the good news is that things around here have calmed down a LOT and even though A is very sick right now and cranky and snotty and a coughing mess, I am loving her like crazy and don’t want to quit my SAHM job!
This series is awesome, the questions are so thorough and I think it is so cool to read all the other mama’s answers. The people interviewed are from all different places, ages, backgrounds and I think it is a great insight into motherhood.
She’s a friend of Auntie E & I’m happy to have participated! I hope you check us out over there if you have some time!
A, even though you don’t sound like it in my interview, you’re a very well behaved girl who is spunky & funny & really really smart. Mommy & Daddy love you more than anything! (this morning nap you’re taking today is really awesome!)
Singular….1 day….1 snow….that is all we’ve got this year! So different from last year!!! I can’t believe how big A’s gotten since last year. I know she’s a year older, but when you look back at the photos, it is just incredible that she was crawling as her main mode of transportation, and she was so bundled up she could barely do that!!!
This snow was a nice one…even though I love when it snows…getting around with a toddler in snow like last year might be difficult. A was also much more helpful this year with snow removal!
She helped her Daddy clean up the whole patio!
Next year, we’ll meet the snow…on skiis!
