Weekend that won’t quit…

This weekend is A’s 1st Birthday Party!  We’re throwing a Polka Dot extravaganza!  We thought we were the type of LK’s to throw a small, intimate, quiet 1st birthday party for our little lady.  Turns out…WE’RE SOOOOO NOT!  Big isn’t appropriate to describe.  There are about 85 people coming to our house on Sunday.  The thought of this makes me laugh a little.  Who am I kidding.  A LOT!  I didn’t even think I knew 85 people!  Where we are putting all of these people is something we’re working on…and hopefully someone up in the sky is looking out for us and is going to keep the rain away so we can sit comfy outside too.

For now…I have a to-do list.  1st on the list is waiting for Auntie S & Uncle P to come in.  The other LK is out at the airport picking them up now!  Good thing since I’m sleeping in tomorrow and letting Auntie S do ALL THE WORK!!!  Favor bags need to be wrapped, furniture needs to be moved, tables need to be set, decorations need to be hung, cakes need decoration, food needs preparation, and the list goes on and on…but we’re going to do it.  I’m hoping we have fun while we’re at it too!

The truth is….

SHE IS SOOOO WORTH IT!!!!!

Now if you think the fun is over at the party.  Think again.  10 people are returning (or never leaving) for Seder on Monday night.  I should probably cook for that huh?!  I’m sleepy!

A Bestie, a Boo & a Bun…

My girls weekend was great!  I got to see Auntie S2 & Boo and lounge with them all weekend!  No worries…we got in a little shopping for Miss A too!  I am not sure there are enough days in the summer for her to wear all of her adorable summer clothes!

Look at this face…is it not the cutest (except T obviously!)

He was such a good boy when I was there.  Each morning I got the BEST greeting when I came out of my room!  What a sweet boy.

And then there’s this girl.  I love Auntie S2!  All she wanted was Rainbow cookies from NY & Italian food.  If you twist my arm…….

I’m so happy I got to hang out with her and meet her bump too.  Yea….you can see it below….and see me mauling it….b/c I’m inappropriate like that!  Its entirely possible that she was thinking “whoa…thats enough LK…but I really didn’t ask, and still don’t care…its my “bumpewe” (thats a combo of bump & niece/nephew – I’m creative!)  ok that was weird, and I won’t call it that again.  We decided its a bun in her oven & she doesn’t know the sex so we’ll go with “bun” until its golden & ready for eating 🙂  Yup…I eat babies…ask A.

Me being normal...

Me attacking my unborn "bun"

Wanna know what I was telling the bun????

It went something like this…

Be good to Mommy.  She is the best ever.  Give her lots of love kicks now.  Take very good care of her from the inside.  I love you very much – love Auntie LK.

And so ended my girls weekend.  Now I’m home with A & she’s running around like a nutball.  Going to chase her!

A note to my Uncle P…

Dear Uncle P,

I want to wish you a very happy birthday.  I’m so lucky to have an uncle like you to teach me all about being a girl.  Some of the things I have learned from you already is that its fabulous to wear matching outfits with the stars of the 80’s, with my friends, with my Mommy, with my Daddy, white shoes are fantastic, its cool to have the cops after you for harassing little old people living next door, and most importantly, find a college football superstar to marry because they always live life to the fullest ;)…just going to make sure they take better care of their knees!

Love,

Baby A

Check my uncle out….he is SO Don Johnson!

Handsome Birthday Boy!

Good Luck Cousin S!

Today Cousin S is going in for a little procedure to help her constant ear infections.  She’s going to go to sleep in her mom’s arms, and wake up in her mom’s arms so I hope its not too traumatic for her.  When she gets home…there are so many presents for her, she’s going to wish she could go to the Dr everyday!  Its better than Hannukah!

What a brave girl!!!

Good Luck Princess S…A & Auntie LK will see you when you get home!  We love you so much!

A week with A&M was a real walk in the park…

Right after the aquarium, we went to the diner for lunch, and then the park!  We tried to find Auntie H to take S&A2 with us, but it didn’t work out, so we went by ourselves and the kids loved it!

Swinging together!

She loves the swings!

Swung the hat off!

M prefered the climbing!

and he's showing A how to climb up the slide!

she's a very fast learner!

Always with the tongue.....blehdelehdahledah

I love this smile!

Yummy boy

"I know I can make it up this thing!"

"and down...!"

"Hey M...THIS WAY!!!"

"I see something else to climb on!"

"Hahaha I did it!!!"

"UhOh!!!! Mommy caught me running away!!!"

We had such a good time 🙂

After this we went to Auntie H’s house and played a little with cousins S & A2.  Always fun.

In other good news, A has another 2 teeth.  We found them on Sunday.  She’s been on a path of getting teeth in pairs, which is fine by me!  She was really cranky for the last few days, and now we know why!  She has also started to really “fake cry”.  A real WAHHHHH with no tears, and its followed by a smirk.  This girl is going to be trouble with capital T.  But I love her!!!

Showing M the fishies NY has to offer!

As one of our fun activities last week, we spent the morning at the Coney Island Aquarium.  We were worried it would be a gross day out, but it turned out to be absolutely gorgeous!  The walrus’s were the coolest thing we saw…lots of their creatures were “away” where ever “away” is!

Walrus saying hi to M!

"M...I'll show you around this place!"

"You hold on to the window...and wait for the walrus to come right up to you!"

M riding the big guy!

I love these 2!

Posing for a picture while admiring the sharks & turtles!

They loved this eye level fish tank!

What a tushie!!!

This boy is such a monkey!!!

"Mom....I want THAT fishy....kthanks"

Fun in the playroom…

During A&M’s visit, it was FREEZING.  Where does one go when they want to walk with their kids inside & slightly control their spending…IKEA!

This trip to IKEA was a double bonus…the kids got to crawl around and play with stuff for a while in their kids section…and I brought home a new rug, tunnel and toys for them to play with at home 🙂

this was taken during one of her many monologues....sounds like blahdaladaladablah!

I see you!!!
“A..your playroom is making me drool!”
playing catch on the new rug!
surprise! Mommy and her camera are in the tunnel!
Having fun doing the shakes with A’s Daddy!

Another great day with our friends!

We’re baaaackkkkk!

We’re still sad that A&M are gone…it was very lonely in our house this morning.  I have to focus on the fact that we’re seeing them again in a few weeks, but even better, it will be in FLORIDA!  Reminder A if you’re reading this…we need to talk later and get our flights straight!

The next few days will be photos recapping our fun visit!  You won’t be able to handle how cute these munchkins are!  I know I can’t!

They started out like this....

And they ended their 1st night naked...

These 2 got along so well!  And the naked party is only acceptable when their Mommies are in control!  (I know where you sleep mister!!)

There was another love affair going on this week as well….A was no part of it!

T loves boys.

At least he had his teeth cleaned *and removed* before their visit!  His breath was is so pretty!

Who does A look like….?

Our awesome family in Chicago just sent me some great shots of A’s daddy as a baby!  I would guess he’s about 18months here…since this is cousin B’s 1st birthday & Daddy is 6 months older than him!  Yay math skillz.

These photos got me thinking….who does A look more like?!?!

My cousin S sent me this photo of him & I together right before A was born.  S & I are twin cousins.  Not identical…he IS about half a day OLDER than me 🙂  but we have the same birthdays!  Our mom’s are sisters and they had us on the same day and its been pretty cool to share our bday my whole life!

Here is Daddy

Daddy on the left

Here’s me

Mommy on the right (what a weird face I'm making!!)

* Sidenote:  That “what a weird face I’m making” statement is DEF going to be common when A is a big girl since i can’t help but take a zillion photos of all her silly faces!!!  I love em!

K…now here’s A

"Who do I look like huh?!"

I think she’s a perfect mix…but you can tell me what you think!

Chicagoland welcomes the LK family with open arms & a top 10…

This past weekend the LKs, A & Auntie E took a little trip to Chicago to visit our family…Aunt G, Uncle L, Cousins J & B.

We started off the trip on Friday night where I thought I was GENIUS and decided we should all take the 8pm flight because A would take her last bottle at takeoff, then fall peacefully asleep in my arms for the whole flight!

WRONG.

How it really happened…A gets on the plane, freaks out because she’s starving.  We feed her before takeoff, give her some motrin for her ears and she then climbs like a maniac over me, Auntie E and Daddy until we takeoff.  Whoever said motrin or tylenol puts kids to sleep was not talking about my monster.  Its like A’s speed….we won’t be taking that ever again!  As we takeoff, the plane gets loud & A’s head drops like dead weight on my shoulder.  Auntie E and I look at each other and think…YES…SUCCESS…10 seconds later.  POP, up is A.  What a faker!  She was a good girl, this was not the screaming crying annoying kid to other passengers.  Just the pain in my @$$ crawling, overtired, can’t get situated daughter bothering our row of family!  Just before our final descent, she falls soundly asleep…ON THE TRAY TABLE.  Ever flown anywhere?????  Yea – now we have to move her.  Fab.  Thankfully she stayed asleep.  And that was the last sleep we saw all weekend!  More on that in a later post!  This post is about how amazing our trip was!

We ate more than a person should eat ever, laughed so hard we cried, played lots of games and overall had a fantastic weekend.

Here’s some of our weekend in photos.

Cousin J, A & Mommy

Cousin B & A...she apparently wanted to make sure his nose was real!

Daddy & Aunt G

First...A kicked Cousin B's head....later that night, Mommy kicked his butt in Just Dance 2! That is all I'm saying to prevent a video of said butt kicking from ending up online!

Aunt G eating A's toes! They are really delicious!

Aunt G throwing A up in the air!!!

First Mommy beat Auntie E in Just Dance...

Daddy & Cousin B doin' it up Bollywood style!

A taking in the view from waaayyyy up high on Daddy's head!

A enjoys playing on the Daddy jungle gym!

Where oh Where oh Where is AAAAAAA?!?!

AHHHH There she is!!!!!

Another fun activity we did was go to the Kohl Children’s Museum with Cousin B, Auntie E, Daddy, Mommy & A.  This was a beautiful museum.  Very very busy on this holiday weekend, but it was very clean and there was a ton of things for kids to do.  A is a little young for most of the exhibits, but it was pretty cool.  They had 4 areas for 18 months and under, they were all padded little areas with lots of toys and mirrors and things for the babies to play with.  A had fun!

This was birth control for Auntie E…even though many little children confused her for a kid herself.  Understandable because this is what her hands look like!

Easter Egg nail polish!!! OHHHH Auntie E...really?!?!

Daddy's face in the big plastic molding thingy!!!

We had a great weekend…even if A didn’t sleep a wink, and the plane rides were full of an antsy A who wanted to crawl up and down the aisle and up on all the strangers to see what was going on, this family is awesome and they were so hospitable.  They made this trip very memorable!  I don’t have any pics of Uncle L, but we’ll get some next time.  He wasn’t feeling so well, but we’re happy we got him to laugh a lot!  And he kicked everyone’s butt in Wii skiball.  He did amazing.  He’s the only one who beat “Megatron”‘s Wii top scores…something we will all be practicing until next time!!!!

Top 10 things I learned in Chicago 🙂

10.  Auntie E should never choose her own nail polish

9.   Aunt G makes awesome pancakes

8.   Auntie E is awesome at Bocce

7.  Cousin B & LK2 make a great partnership in Lets Dance Bollywood

6.  I should never play Lets Dance with long pants on…I will almost kill myself!

5.  Uncle L is a master at Wii skiiball

4.  Motrin makes A insanely hyper & unless there’s a high fever involved, she will not be getting any of that ever again

3.  I miss T a lot when I travel…that doesn’t change when you have a baby

2.  A will never ever ever ever ever again sleep in the same room as us, and particularly, will never again come in our bed.

1.  Our Chicago family is awesome 🙂
